SPOTLIGHT PATIENT ENTERTAINMENT Product Spotlight: Patient Entertainment/TVs ❏ #106 Panasonic introduces 42-inch healthcare-grade LCD display Panasonic offers a new high-definition, 42-inch healthcaregrade display, the TH42LRH50U. The new display is UL 60065 Annex Q certified to ensure hospital safety standards are met for patient and waiting room use. The display is also fully compatible with pillow speaker interface systems, allowing for easy integration with existing in-room patient entertainment systems. The new TH-42LRH50U features a fast boot time of three seconds (versus seven seconds for the 42-inch healthcare grade display). The display's SD Memory Card slot permits system-wide cloning of settings to a large number of units resulting in significant installation cost savings. The displays are also equipped with essential functions for hospital installations, such as initial input/channel/volume and maximum volume settings. ❏ #107 TeleHealth Services offers new line of Samsung LED high-definition hospital TVs TeleHealth Services launched a new line of UL approved and ENERGY STAR 5.3 certified Samsung LED healthcare televisions. The line features LED backlight, a more compact cabinet, industryleading energy savings and enhanced multi-set management capabilities. The televisions bring the comforts of home to the hospital room, while offering advanced technology that supports facilities' communication and patient engagement initiatives. The new models deliver superior picture quality through sharp, detailed images and smooth motion. The full-array configuration provides a brighter experience, better black levels and picture uniformity versus edge-lit hospital LEDs. www.mcdmag.com ❏ #108 Kansas medical center integrates nurse call system with interactive patient system Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Shawnee Mission, Kan. recently launched an integration of its Critical Alert Systems CommonPath nurse call system with a Skylight CareNavigator Interactive Patient Care System. The integration provides the care provider's name on the home screen of the patient's TV, helping to keep patients and family members informed and engaged. It also automates the need to manually display names on a whiteboard in each patient room. The CommonPath nurse call assignment engine updates each shift from a web-based assignment screen. The Critical Alert Systems' design team has worked closely with Skylight to extract staff assignments from the CommonPath assignment engine using web services and XML integration. ❏ #109 LG Electronics' new generation of patientroom TVs incorporate Pro:Centric platform LG Electronics' new LQ630H LED TV series incorporates the Pro:Centric Applications Platform, which enables Java and Flash-based applications to run on the TV. Systems integrators can use this standards-based application platform to offer patientroom television interactivity that creates a more "home-like" user experience and streamlines how hospitals deliver patient information to provide more personalized patient data and education based on individual preferences. Hospitals can also personalize templates including colors, themes and billboard advertisements. Patients can access the TV and interactive application screens from a bedside Pro:Centric-enabled Pillow Speaker. The series also includes features that make it an easy retrofit into the infrastructure of most hospitals. The LQ630H is available in 22-, 26- and 32-inch sizes.
