PRODUCTS ❏ #113 Carrier expands chiller line to include two-stage compression technology Carrier has expanded its Evergreen 19XR, XRV line of centrifugal chillers to include two-stage compression technology, providing building owners the choice of one or two stages to best tailor the solution to each unique site. The centrifugal product line offers both single- and two-stage compression options from 800 to 1,600 tons. This engineered product is designed for flexibility; it can be configured to meet individual building and system design needs and can achieve Integrated Part Load Values as low as 0.31 kW/Ton, exceeding ASHRAE 90.1 efficiency standards by as much as 23 percent. ❏ #116 Fresh-Aire UV introduces air e purification system for commercial on HVAC systems stems Fresh-Aire UV has introduced its APCO Rack V System, a non-ozone air purification system for on-ozone HVAC units in commercial facilities, including n hospitals. The device is the first system to combine ultraviolet germicidal irradiation for airborne and HVAC unit internal surface disinfection, with gas-phase air purification and photocatalytic oxidation to capture and neutralize volatile organic compound contaminants. The unit is ideal for boiler/tower applications and the replacement of aging water source heat pumps. Available in up to 6-ton capacities, the design incorporates a number of features, including the Aurora generation of communicating controls.
