POWER SYSTEMS Paralleling System Uses Transfer Switch Rather Than Circuit Breakers Emerson Network Power debuts the ASCO Series 336 Parallel- ing System — the industry's fi rst paralleling switchgear based on a transfer switch. The system combines fi eld-proven parallel- ing switchgear components, a dual-operator closed transition transfer switch mechanism and a new, sophisticated controller in a single, space-saving enclosure. Its footprint can be as small as 28 inches deep by 38 inches wide. The system is confi gured in a standardized, modular design that provides fl exibility, quick delivery, cost savings and overall simplicity. The controller provides one-of-a- kind load management functional- ity. Up to four levels of load control maximizes protection for priority one loads. A unique operating method adds loads based on ac- tual kW, rather than the number of gen-sets, regardless of how many gen-sets are operating. ID#104 LIGHTING Personalized Lighting Stimulates Senses, Promotes Well-Being and Reinforces Health USAI Lighting has developed Color Select, an architectural LED downlighting fixture offering independent control of both color temperature and intensity. Users are able to tune white light over the broadest possible color temperature range with either standard room-side dimmers or programmable control systems. Color Select provides the fl exibility to cater to the needs of both patients and caregivers. Studies show that patients rest better and heal faster when lighting is at warmer color temperatures no higher than 3000K, whereas hospital staf needs higher color temperatures and light levels to perform work and stay alert. Mimicking natural daylight cycles indoors can also ameliorate Alzheimer patients' sleep patterns. ID#105 AIRFLOW INDICATORS OFFER CONTINUOUS MONITORING Lamifl ow Airfl ow Indicators provide continuous monitoring of patient care and isolation rooms, anywhere continuous monitoring of (negative or positive) airfl ow is desired. A large, easy-to-read indicator allows staff to see room airfl ow at a glance. Custom sizes are available to accommodate unique wall dimensions. The indicators replace the need for hot wire anemometer and other manual methods such as smoke testing. All models contain fi re stop protection. Lamifl ow provides mechanical devices, as well as electronic units that are easily installed. ID#107 LIGHT FIXTURE OFFERS ULTRA- VIOLET DOSAGE TO DESTROY AIRBORNE VIRUSES, BACTERIA The High-Output GLO Upper Air Germicidal UV Fixture from UV Resources provides the indus- try's greatest amount of ultraviolet-C energy dosage, without the use of additional power, heat or special UV lamps. The GLO fi xture, which stands for Germicidal Light Overhead, deliv- ers up to 350 percent more irradiance than conventional upper-air UV systems. This increase in irradiance levels translates to greater UV-C coverage, enabling infection control specialists to treat more area with fewer fi xtures, saving both cost and energy. The wall-mounted unit can be easily installed anywhere to destroy airborne viruses, bacteria and mold spores. ID#106 ELECTRICAL Metal-Clad Cables Ideal for LED, Fluorescent Dimming AFC Cable Systems' new MC (metal-clad) Luminary Cables combine lighting and con- trol circuits under a single interlocked armor. The cables are ideal for both LED and fl uo- rescent dimming. The MC Luminary Cable features two or three single-copper THHN conductors, one single THHN insulated ground and a twisted jacketed pair of TFN con- ductors. By coupling the standard power wiring for lighting fi xtures with the low-voltage control wiring under a single armor, this single cable does the job of two cables when con- necting to LED fi xtures, switches, occupancy sensors and other controls.
