The latest data provided by the Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention reports that
although some progress has been made in
fighting hospital-acquired infections, the nation
did not reach its most recent goals as outlined in
the National Action Plan to Prevent Health Care-
Associated Infections: Road Map to Elimination
(HAI Action Plan). The causes and risks of HAIs
