Renovations, Construction Complete at Aspirus Memorial Health Center Miron Construction recently completed renovations and new construction at Aspirus Memorial Health Center in Medford, Wisconsin. Comprised of 24,462 square feet of new construction and a 17,000-square-foot remodel, the project incorporated the growing trends of patient-centered design and emphasis on preventive care. The project included the design and construction of the kiosk-based patient registration application for both hospital and clinic registrations, as well as a full wellness center with an indoor running track. The fi nished facility features a critical access hospital, level III trauma center, new cancer/infusion center, birthing center, retail pharmacy, welcome center specialty clinic, lab, imaging and community education center. Eppstein Uhen Architects provided design for the project. Loyola University Medical Center Undergoing 4-Phase Renovation Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois is undergoing a major renovation led by Mortenson Construction. Coordinating with architect VOA Associates Inc. and the medical center's construction manager Hammes Co., Mortenson is tackling the gut-rehab project, scheduled for completion in March 2016, in four stages. The fi rst phase, now underway, involves building temporary quarters and relocating physical therapy, waiting rooms, offi ces and other fi rst-fl oor services in preparation for phases 2 through 4, which will reconfi gure the main fl oor to include the new observation units and gastroenterology and interventional radiology suites. Projects Specialty Care Fairview Ridges Expansion Complete Kraus-Anderson Construction Company has completed an extensive hospital expansion and renovation, as well as a new Specialty Care Center on the Fairview Ridges Hospital medical campus in Burnsville, Minnesota. The expansion of almost 50,000 square feet includes a new 8,300-square-foot laboratory. The hospital's sixth floor was built out as a 26-bed inpatient surgical unit, and the neonatal intensive care and pediatric units were extensively remodeled. A new outpatient observation unit was opened in refurbished space and several new emergency treatment spaces were created. Designed by BWBR, the 133,000-square-foot specialty care center is home to a new imaging center, comprehensive orthopedic and spine services, ambulatory surgery center, heart clinic and cardiology testing, cancer clinic, cardiac rehabilitation center, retail pharmacy and home medical equipment store. Baptist Children's Hospital Features 10-Room ED Robins & Morton recently completed construction of the new Spence and Becky Wilson Baptist Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. Designed by Earl Swensson Associates, Inc., the centerpiece of the new facility, a 10-room, 17,000- square-foot emergency department, began accepting patients on Jan. 28. The facility features 24/7 emergency medicine coverage, and a pediatric diagnostic area and surgery prep. It will also house the Pediatric Eye Center to provide care from diagnosis and treatment, to surgery and follow-up. Robins & Morton also broke ground on the new Baptist Memorial Hospital- North Mississippi in October 2014. The 600,000-square-foot facility will be complete in 2017, providing 217 beds for patients in Oxford, Mississippi and the surrounding areas. Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi will bring more comprehensive medical and surgical services to the area, including the Baptist Cancer Center, cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery and an emergency depart- ment expanding to add 35 rooms. The fi ve- story hospital is the largest economic de- velopment in Lafayette County, and one of the largest hospitals in North Mississippi. Olathe Medical Center Announces Major Expansions Olathe Medical Center will be undergoing the largest expansion in its history. Four signifi cant construction projects will be underway this year across OMC's 250-acre campus: a new four-story obstetrics wing with a Level II neonatal intensive care unit; a freestanding cancer center; the ad- dition of a memory care neighborhood at Cedar Lake Village and an expanded cardiovascular cen- ter.
