IN BRIEF AMBULATORY CARE Grand Opening Held for UF Health North in Jacksonville, Florida The grand opening of UF Health North in Jacksonville, Florida was recently celebrated. The six-story, 210,000-square- foot ambulatory care and medical of ce complex was designed by Gresham, Smith and Partners. Perry-McCall served as general contractor. The design is infl uenced by the regional topography, specifi cally area wetlands and marshlands. Rooftop and interi- or gardens help draw a connec- tion to nature, while large-scale photography printed on wood, metal and acrylic echo the Flor- ida landscape and supply a posi- tive distraction. Public areas are designed to relax patients while clinical areas inspire confi dence in the care they are to receive. The departments on the fi rst two fl oors were designed to be fl exible and eliminate boundaries. New technologies were incorporated into the facility, including point-of- care registration, kiosks and real-time location systems that can track assets, person- nel and/or patients. In addi- tion to this facility, a 92-bed hospital has been approved for construction on the UF Health North campus. The project, also being designed by GS&P;, is projected to open in 2017. Projects completed & upcoming Banner Health has awarded the contract for the design of the new Banner-University Medical Center hospital facility in Tucson to Shepley Bulfi nch architects, in association with GLHN Architects & Engineers, Inc. The 11-story tower is scheduled for completion in 2019. The Park Hill Medical Offi ce Building and Ambulatory Surgical Center, located in Fort Worth, Texas, was recently completed by Adolfson & Peterson. The fi rst fl oor houses a 16,946-square-foot ambulatory surgical center with fi ve operating rooms, associated PACUs, Pre-Ops and OBS rooms. The remaining two fl oors contain shell space for future clinics. Ste. Genevieve Memorial Hospital in Missouri has contracted McGrath & Associates to build a new $1.6-million surgery addition to the hospital. Construction is slated for completion in October 2015. Archimages, Inc. is the architect. The two- story addition will connect two existing buildings to expand the hospital's surgery space and create a new physician offi ce space. Boston Medical Center has signed a $184-million, single Integrated Project Delivery contract agreement with Tocci Building Companies, TRO JB and Suffolk Construction for its Menino addition and renovations project. The project includes demolition of an existing infi ll building, a new 120,000-square-foot addition, 220,000 square feet of renovations to the Menino Pavilion and construction of a pedestrian bridge with elevator towers at each end. It is scheduled to be complete in April 2018. A two-story, 24-bed addition, along with renovations, were recently completed for San Jan Capestrano Hospital in Puerto Rico.
