Jeff Boldt to Receive ASHRAE Distinguished Service Award KJWW Principal and Director of Engi- neering Jef Boldt , P.E., LEED AP, HBDP, will be presented with ASHRAE's Distin- guished Service Award in June at the soci- ety's annual conference in Atlanta, Georgia. The award recog- nizes members who have served ASHRAE faithfully as a member of committees or otherwise have given freely of their time and talent on behalf of the society. Boldt is a voting member of ASHRAE SSPC-90.1 Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings, the energy standard that is the basis of nearly all energy codes in the U.S. He chairs the Healthcare, Hydronics, Elevator, Booster Pump and Duct System Leakage working groups in the 90.1 com- mittee, and also is a member of ASHRAE SSPC 189.1, the green building code which covers site sustainability, water ef ciency, energy ef ciency, indoor environmental quality, impact on atmosphere and materi- als and construction plans for operation. He has over 30 years of experience in mechanical, fi re protection and acousti- cal design. Boldt is also an author of the Advanced Energy Design Guide for Large Hospitals and of the AEDG for Small Healthcare Facilities. Facility Guidelines Institute Hires New CEO, Managing Editor Douglas Erickson , FASHE, CHFM, was named CEO of the Facility Guidelines Insti- tute and is charged with leading the imple- mentation of strategic agenda and facilitat- ing the daily activities associated with devel- oping FGI's design and construction guidelines for hospitals, outpatient facilities and long-term care and related facili- ties. He has more than 40 years of experience in the development of healthcare facility codes and standards and is a founding board member of FGI. Pamela James Blumgart was named FGI's managing editor and is responsible for the design and development of new products and services along with serving as Neuro-Architecture Fellow Joins Perkins+Will Dr. Eve Edelstein has been named research fellow in neuro-architecture at Perkins+Will. In her role, she will help initiate and report on research studies on behavioral health facilities based upon literature review, site studies and discussions with leadership and staf and at facilities under construction and completed. Eve Edelstein MArch, Ph.D. (Neuro), EDAC, Assoc., AIA, F-AAA, is on the faculty at the NewSchool of Architecture and Design and is president of Innova- tive Design Science. Edelstein's back- ground includes anthropology (Univer- sity California Berkeley), architecture (NewSchool of Architecture & Design) and neuroscience (University College London), and experience in clinical neurophysiology and research at leading academic medical centers in the United States and Europe. Patterson Promoted to Health Practice Leader at SmithGroupJJR Mark Patterson , AIA, ACHA, EDAC, LEED AP BD+C, has been named leader of SmithGroupJJR's Health Practice. He succeeds Jim Hannon, who transitions back into practice as a senior strategic health plan- ner at the fi rm's San Francisco, California of ce. In his new role, Patterson heads the fi rm's international practice devoted to the design of health facilities. He spent the past decade leading the fi rm's Health Studio at its Phoenix, Arizona of ce. He is a recognized expert in acute care facili- ties, as well as ambulatory care facilities. Stafford Joins CannonDesign as Vice President Steven Staf ord has joined Cannon- Design as vice president and advisory services consultant. He will focus on advancing data-informed solutions for healthcare clients around the globe. With a career spanning over 30 years in the healthcare industry, Staf ord brings to Haas Assumes Presidency of the American College of Healthcare Architects Anthony J. Haas FAIA, FACHA, senior principal at WHR Architects, has begun his tenure as the 2015 President of the American College of Health- care Architects. The college provides board certifi cation for architects who practice as healthcare specialists. His primary goals for the year include the rollout of a more rigorous and representative cer- tifi cation examina- tion and a renewed focus on convey- ing the value that ACHA certifi cants bring to the profession.
