Work begins on Joplin replacement hospital
McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. is serving as construction manager for a new 825,000-square-foot hospital in Joplin, Mo. to replace the former St. John's Mercy Regional Medical Center demolished in the May 22, 2011 EF-5 tornado.
The new hospital has a construction budget of $335 million and will initially house 261 inpatient beds with expan-

Providence Hospital Northeast $38.4M renovation, expansion approved Providence Hospital's Board of Trustees recently approved a $38.4-million plan for enhancing orthopaedic care and general medical services through expan- sions and renovations at Providence Hospital Northeast in South Carolina. The project will expand the facility by adding 38 new beds and provide an estimated 75-100 additional employment opportunities. Construction plans include signifi cant renovations and new construc-

Scripps Health offi cials recently dedicated the expanded facil- ity, renaming it the "Conrad Prebys Emergency & Trauma Center" in honor of its largest donor.
