In brief
Mission Trail Baptist is 1st LEED Gold acute-care hospital in Texas Mission Trail Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas is the fi rst
acute-care hospital in the state of Texas to achieve LEED Gold and the fi rst hospital in the city of San Antonio to achieve LEED certifi cation, established by the U.S. Green Building Council. Mission Trail is located at Brooks City-Base, San Antonio's premier
center for bioscience, academic, environmental and technical re- search. Brooks City-Base is the nation's fi rst-and-only city-base, the result of a unique partnership between the United States Air Force and the city of San Antonio, which allows for the redevelopment of the former Brooks Air Force Base property. Based on the selection of a previously developed site, provi-
sions for alternative transportation, and community connectivity and stormwater design, the project achieved 21 of 26 possible points for sustainable sites. It provides access to city bus lines and sidewalk ac- cess to retail goods and services and residential areas. Mission Trail was a collaborative process among Vanguard Health
System, Baptist Health System, architecture fi rm Earl Swenson As- sociates, general contractors Brasfi eld & Gorrie, and commissioning fi rm SSRCx, which provided LEED, measurement and verifi cation consultation and energy modeling.
Morristown Memorial Hospital renovation
earns LEED Gold At Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, N.J., the renova- tion of a single fl oor, Simon Level 5, has received a Gold LEED Commercial Interiors certifi ca- tion from the U.S. Green Building Council. The renovation of a 1948 semi-private room bed fl oor
into an inpatient unit focused on oncology patients encompasses 30 patient rooms and support areas. Located in the Simon Building, which serves as the main entrance
leading into the Morristown Memorial Hospital campus, the project comprises three patient room wings connected by a centralized nursing station and elevator lobby. The project is designed to 25-percent water use reduction and
21.28-percent lighting power density reduction. In addition, 77 per- cent of construction waste was recycled and diverted away from the landfi ll. Sustainable project materials and high indoor environmental quality were a focus of the design and construction, resulting in 12.6 percent materials with recycled content, 61 percent manufactured regionally and 13 of 35 LEED points achieved by the project coming from the IEQ category.
Boone Hospital tower achieves LEED-Gold status The U.S. Green Building Council has awarded the new patient tower at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Mo. LEED-Gold status for environmentally friendly construction and design. The patient tower opened in June 2011. It features 128 private patient rooms, a new laboratory and conference center. Among the tower's green features are: rooftop solar panels for
heating water, a 30,000 gallon rainwater harvesting tank, triple-pane windows, natural lighting, native landscaping and occupancy lighting sensors. The tower was also built with more than 10 percent recycled materials and during construction greater than 95 percent of construc- tion waste was recycled.

CONTAIN AIRBORNE CONTAMINANTS DURING CONSTRUCTION & MAINTENANCE
AG3000 Containment Cube The AIRE GUARDIAN® AG3000MCCK Mobile Containment Cube is an essential ICRA compliance tool for effectively controlling and containing airborne contaminants generated during construction and maintenance work in ceiling or wall cavities. The durable enclosure meets or exceeds DOO DSSOLFDEOH ¿UH VDIHW\ VWDQGDUGV and is fast and easy to setup.
AG-DG100 Door Guard The Door Guard is a high-quality, reusable dust control barrier designed to help healthcare facilities and facility contractors comply with CDC ICRA Construction Guidelines. The tough, secure Door Guard barrier is imprinted with the information needed to help protect patients and staff by clearly identifying work areas, and isolating and containing airborne particles within the work zone.
HCNC1001 ICRA Dust Containment Barrier Safe-Flex Work Area Containment Barrier reduces construction- related airborne infection risks in healthcare facilities by increas- ing awareness of dust control barrier standards. The polyethyl- ene barrier sheeting is superior because of its unique display of ICRA containment instruc- WLRQV DQG VSHFL¿FDWLRQV SULQWHG directly on the product face, thereby increasing awareness of a construction zone, reducing risk and simplifying documenta- tion requirements.
