Hilary Bales-Morales Receives ACHA Board Certificate Page Associate Principal Hilary Bales- Morales , AIA, EDAC, ACHA, has earned her Board Certifi cate in healthcare architecture from The American College of Healthcare Architects. She joins the ranks of approximately 400 ACHA colleagues in the U.S. and Canada who have received this credential. ACHA requires its certifi cate holders to work toward the improvement of healthcare architecture on behalf of the public, to practice in an ethical manner and to maintain the high- est standards in the fi eld of healthcare architecture. Members must be licensed architects for a minimum of three years, demonstrate work on healthcare-specifi c projects for a minimum of 6,000 hours within the last fi ve years and submit a portfolio of work. HDR Welcomes Mark Tiscornia as Healthcare Principal in Phoenix, Arizona Office Mark Tiscornia , AIA, LEED AP BD+C, has joined the HDR Phoenix, Arizona of ce as a healthcare principal. Relocat- ing back to Phoenix after working in San Francisco for 10 years, he plans to make a positive impact in the Southwest, as he did in California, by growing the business, de- veloping strategic and master plans and executing complex health projects. Specializing in healthcare, Tiscornia has planned, designed and managed proj- ects from small buildings, early on in his career, to progressively larger acute care OSHPD replacement hospitals, includ- ing the $1-billion+ Stanford University Children's Hospital expansion, a project he has led for the past fi ve years. Two Appointed to Health Care Institute Board of Directors The Health Care Institute, an IFMA Alliance Partner, has appointed Toni Gatz , account manager for Rieke Of ce Interiors and Christopher Roberts , global solution architect for Schneider Electric's Healthcare segment, to its board of directors. Gatz brings to this new role more than 12 years of business devel- opment and leadership expertise in contract furniture strategic sales. She has improved the overall patient experi- ence while sourcing the best solutions for any budget through her work on facilities throughout the Midwest. Roberts brings to his new position expertise in the design, development and support of intelligent healthcare infra- structure solutions that have improved the environment of care and operating ef- fi ciency for facilities around the world. HGA Hires Michael Hess as Healthcare Principal in Minneapolis Office HGA Architects and Engineers has hired Michael Hess as associate vice president and healthcare principal in the fi rm's Minneapolis, Minnesota of ce. He will focus on developing HGA's inter- national healthcare work in Asia, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. His background in- cludes strategic develop- ment, master planning, medical planning, design and project management of large, complex healthcare facilities nationally and internationally. Larry Lacombe Promoted to Vice President of Program Management and Facilities Compliance Larry Lacombe was recently promoted to vice president of program development and facilities compliance at Medxcel Fa- cilities Management. In this role, he will provide operational program development, regulatory compli- ance, health assessment management and formal facility management op- erating system methods. He will lead the teams that implement and pro- vide support for consistent policies, pro- cesses, procedures and protocols. Lacombe has nearly 35 years of experience in facility compliance, management, engineering and maintenance. Perkins+Will Welcomes International Healthcare Leader Jeff Davenport Healthcare industry leader Jef Daven- port has joined Perkins+Will. Based out of the fi rm's Washington, D.C. of ce, Daven- port will help grow the fi rm's healthcare practice worldwide, drawing on more than 25 years of experience in planning, designing and delivering complex medical facilities around the globe. These include Cahnman Elected to American College of Healthcare Architects Council of Fellows Sheila F. Cahnman , AIA, FACHA, LEED AP, has been elected to the American Col- lege of Healthcare Architects Council of Fellows. Fellow- ship is awarded to an ACHA member whose career refl ects excep- tional competence and de- sign excellence in healthcare architecture, resulting in signifi cant infl uence on the profession. For over 30 years, Cahnman has championed healthcare design innovation with an emphasis on im- proving the patient, family and staff experience. Her new practice, Jump- Garden Consulting, LLC, consults to architecture, engineering and develop- ment companies, as well as hospital systems. She has presented at over 30 health- care design conferences and symposiums and published more than 25 articles. She volunteers to lecture at several universities, and is a guest critic annually in the healthcare studio at Univer- sity of Illinois Champaign/ Urbana.
