MCDM AG.COM | J U LY/AUGUST 2015 | Medical Construction & Design 55 IN BRIEF McCarthy Executive VP to Serve on California OSHPD Hospital Building Safety Board Michael Gritters , executive vice president in charge of healthcare for McCarthy Building Companies, has been appointed to the Hospital Building Safety Board for the State of California Of ce of Statewide Health Planning & Development. Gritters will serve a four-year term, holding the sole general contractor member seat on the board. In addition, he has been appointed to three committees that oversee the administrative process and code changes, education and outreach and standard details. Gritters has 37 years of experience in the construction industry. The Safety Board was established by Senate Bill 519 in the original Hospital Facilities Seismic Safety Act of 1973. Com- prised of experts in health facility design, engineering and construction, the board advises the director of the Of ce of State- wide Health Planning and Development on the administration of the Safety Act and acts as a board of appeals with regard to seismic safety and fi re/life safety issues relating to hospital facilities. New Vision, New Leaders Take Reign at FKP Architects' Dallas Of ce Holly Ragan has been named managing principal for the Dallas, Texas of ce of FKP Architects. Ragan rejoins the fi rm after serving more than eight years as the director of planning and design at Uni- versity of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Ragan's background spans more than 18 years. At UT Southwestern, she over- saw expansion of the new William P. Clements University Hospital, a 460-bed replacement facility that opened in December 2014 and had a construction budget of $800 million. In addition, Michael St. Clair returns to FKP as vice president and senior plan- ner. He worked with Ragan in facilities planning and design at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. In his new role, he will work to ensure quality healthcare facility design and planning services for clients in central Texas. He brings 18 years of industry knowledge to the team. Finally, Jonni John- son , CPSM, joined the fi rm as chief reinvention of cer. She will work closely with Ragan and St. Clair. She has an established track record of more than 15 years as a business development leader and growth strategist in the healthcare design industry. She brings an operational mindset to delivering on internal business goals and connects the business of design with clients' organizational goals. Johnson brings an extensive network of relationships in both public and private health institutions. HGA Hires Anthony Thomas as Senior Project Manager Anthony Thomas , AIA, NCARB, has been hired as senior project manager in HGA Architects and Engineers' Minneapolis, Minnesota of ce. He will direct team processes for healthcare projects nationally and regionally. Thomas has more than 30 years of healthcare architec- ture experience, with particular expertise in executive management, project management, construction man- agement and Evidence-Based Design. New Principal of Healthcare Interior Design Named for Francis Cauf man Jennifer Kenson , IIDA, EDAC, has been appointed principal of healthcare inte- rior design for Francis Cauf man. For the past 23 years, Kenson's design sensibilities and collaborative approach have resulted in mul- tiple awards, including a Healthcare Environ- ments Award and an Interior Architecture Merit Award from the AIA for the Claire Tow Pediatric Pavilion at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Cumming Continues Healthcare Sector Growth, Adds Project Management Executive Bill Foulkes has been named national vice president of healthcare project manage- ment at Cumming. He will be responsible for driving the fi rm's national healthcare project management growth, while over- seeing its healthcare assignments. Foulkes has more than 25 years of con- sulting, program and project management ex- perience. He has led highly ef ective teams in the planning, design and construction of numerous types of healthcare facilities. He brings expertise in all phases, including master planning, program planning, design management, construction management and dispute resolution. Michael Gritters Holly Ragan Adam Delk has joined JE Dunn's Houston, Texas offi ce as vice president. He has more than 15 years of experience managing planning and construction of large-scale projects, mainly healthcare. Josh Crawford , AIA, LEED AP, has joined TSA Architects' leadership team as associate principal. As a champion of Lean operations, he has been an innovator in optimizing project delivery with clients' missions for best project outcomes. Keith Konkoli has been promoted to executive vice president of healthcare at Duke Realty. He will be responsible for all operational activities of the com- pany's healthcare business. Hammes Company has appointed John Healy as regional vice president, heading the fi rm's newly established Atlanta, Georgia offi ce. He has nearly 30 years of experience in healthcare project management and business development, with completed projects totaling more than $750 million and 1.7 million square feet. Jon Franklin has rejoined FKP Architects as senior vice president and senior architect. He will manage the fi rm's team producing construction documents for the shell and core of the new $506-million Texas Children's Hospital Pediatric Tower 'E' expansion.
