Pre-fabricated surgical boom and light mounting solutions designed for safety and versatility. Visit us at www.healthcaretec.com and find out why hundreds of hospitals, contractors and architects prefer Accu-Mount Support Systems. Pre-engineered configurations for all building structure types. Gifford Medical Center Earns EPA Energy Star Certification Gif ord Medical Center in Randolph, Vermont has earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star certifi cation. The national certifi cation signifi es that the building meets strict energy-ef ciency performance levels set by the EPA and performs in the top 25 percent of similar facilities nationwide for energy ef ciency. Gif ord has steadily improved energy ef ciency throughout the entire organization through low-occupancy settings for heat and electricity, improving kitchen ventilation equipment and installing internal and external LED lighting. In addition, two recent large improvements contributed signifi cantly to the hospital's high rating: » A new energy-ef cient 90 ton chiller replaced an aging 50 ton unit, and structures were put in place for three new chillers to accommodate future air conditioning upgrades » An energy recovery unit was installed to capture return air and recondition it for re-use; this "climatized" air requires less energy to re-heat or re-cool For more information, visit gif ordmed.org. MCDM AG.COM | SEPTEMBER /OCTOBER 2015 | Medical Construction & Design 69 Collaboration to Advance Energy Effi ciency in Power Management Power management company Eaton is collaborating with the American Society for Healthcare Engineering to highlight the criti- cal power management solutions helping the healthcare industry safeguard patients and data. In-depth technical, thought leadership content will be developed focused on advancing energy effi ciency and power resiliency through lighting, critical power and build- ing effi ciency solutions transforming healthcare environments. Eaton will also develop Performance Improvement Measures to support ASHE's Sustainability Roadmap for Hospitals and the Energy to Care program. The resources will provide ASHE members with free, practical tools to better understand how to reduce energy costs and the environmental footprint. For details, visit ashe.org.
