Wolters, a state-licensed architect, brings more than 27 years of design and construction experience to his new position. In his role, Wolt- ers is responsible for maintaining and expanding operations in all service areas and developing relationships with new and existing healthcare clients across the Midwest. Hammes Co. Names New Regional Vice President Alvaro Rizo-Patron has recently joined Hammes as the new regional vice presi- dent for the company's growing Texas market. He brings more than 30 years of leadership experience with major building and infrastruc- ture projects to his new position. He has been responsible for quality delivery and cus- tomer satisfaction on more than 40 capital improvement projects collectively valued at over $12 billion. Prior to joining Hammes, Rizo-Patron served in several leadership positions at Jacobs and Parsons. He also worked at the Southwest Institute in various positions, including principal research engineer for the Robotics & Automation Department. Josie Briggs , IIDA, LEED AP, prin- cipal, Seattle, Washington: As an interior designer, Briggs has shaped a diverse range of corporate, healthcare and civic Fuessel Joins HKS Health Practice in Texas Whitney Fuessel has been named vice president and healthcare architect at HKS. She will help lead the Houston, Texas-based health practice and con- tinue to grow the fi rm's client base in the South-Central region. For more than two decades, she has focused her eff orts on planning and designing safe, effi cient and life-chang- ing facilities in the realm of healthcare design. Her portfolio includes more than 10 million square feet of healthcare environ- ments throughout Texas and across the nation. In the south- central region, she has worked with Texas A&M;, Central Health, Memorial Hermann Health System, The Methodist Hospital, Children's Health, Cook County Health and Hospital Sys- tem and The Texas Medical Center. Stantec Launches Mechanical Practice in Pacifi c Northwest, Names New Mechanical Discipline Lead Stantec completes a major fi rst step on its strategic plan to bring integrated mechanical and electrical services to its Pacifi c Northwest clients with the addition of Orion Morrissey , P.E., as principal and mechanical discipline lead. The new service off ering will comple- ment Stantec's nearly 70-year electrical engi- neering practice in the region, brought to the fi rm through the 2015 merger with Sparling. Morrissey will work with Stantec's leader- ship in Seattle, Washington to develop its overall growth strategy and meet the high demands expected of an integrated MEP practice. With 20 years of experience working in the built environment, he brings com- prehensive knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, fi re protection and tempera- ture control systems. He is a licensed mechanical engineer in four states, a member of American Society of Heat- ing, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers and Washington State Society of Healthcare Engineers. Mark Chen Joins HDR as Design Principal Mark Chen , AIA, has been named design prin- cipal in the fi rm's Atlanta, Georgia architecture studio. He brings 35 years of experience to the role, having provided architecture, master plan- ning and urban design services to healthcare, education and commercial clients in the U.S., Europe and China in the past. He is passionate about the ways in which architecture can make a diff erence in the world and have an impact on people's lives. "Our physi- cal environment aff ects all of us. We love to be in places that feel good and look great and, as architects, we have the ability to create these beautiful places," he says. A graduate of Harvard University, he has taught classes there, as well as at Syracuse Uni- versity, NYIT and Rhode Island School of Design.
