6 Medical Construction & Design | SEPTEMBER /OCTOBER 2017 | MCDM AG.COM Henry Ford Brigitte Harris Cancer Pavilion Ground was recently broken for the six-story, 187,000-square-foot Henry Ford Brigitte Harris Cancer Pavilion in Detroit, Michigan. The project team includes Turner Construction and SmithGroupJJR. The pavilion is scheduled for completion in 2019. Kitchell recently completed a large renovation and expansion of the Women and Infant Services Unit at Banner Casa Grande Medical Center in central Arizona. The project architect was Devenney Group. The year-long project created a new 27,800-square-foot obstetrical care unit and expanded and renovated labor, delivery and recovery rooms, including private rooms for both mother and baby. The new unit also offers Level II Perinatal Services for high-risk pregnancies. JE Dunn Construction has begun a 15-month exterior renovation to the 382-bed WellStar Cobb Hospital in Austell, Georgia. The $13-million remediation project will involve replacing 65,000 square feet of curtainwall and brick fa ade, as well as roof replacement for the hospital's two, six-story bed towers. It is scheduled for completion in fall 2018. The architect of record is CDH Partners, Inc. Ground was recently broken on a $20-million, 60,000-square-foot outpatient facility in Bardstown, Kentucky, for Hardin Memorial Health . The new facility will house laboratory, diagnostic imaging, cardiovascular, rehab and disease management services. MedCraft has engaged Stengel Hill Architecture for design services and Robins & Morton for construction services. E4H Environments for Health Architecture has been selected to design Ellis Medicine's Facility Master Plan . Ellis Medicine, which features a 438-bed hospital in Schenectady, New York, will study siting solutions for the reorganization of the entire campus. Projects NAC Architecture and Design-Build contractor Bouten Construction Company recently celebrated the completion of the Spokane Teaching Health Center, located in Spokane, Washington. The 42,000-square-foot building has 58 exam rooms on two levels. The large preceptor space is meticulously planned and designed to foster all healthcare disciplines working together to efficiently treat the patient, rather than the symptom. Born of a consortium of Providence Health and Services, Empire Health Foundation and Washington State University, the STHC offers patient care and training for family medicine, internal medicine, behavioral health, pharmacy, nursing, physical therapy and occupational therapy. The resulting facility is comfortable and inviting — a safe place to go for underserved patients, who upon entering the new facility feel respected and valued.
