Soliant Health highlighted Orange Regional Medical Center's top attributes that earned it more than 13,000 votes, saying the facility "off ers high-tech services in a visually stunning 'impeccable, healing environment' that's also comfortable and welcoming. Orange Regional Medical Center commissioned Forum Studio to assist them in a comprehensive consolidation and expansion of its outpatient care programs anticipating the future needs of the community. Orange Regional Medical Center Voted No.1 on 'Most Beautiful' List AIA Releases Construction Forecast for Remainder of 2017-18 The AIA Consensus Construc- tion Forecast projects annual growth in the 3.5 percent to 4 percent range for the remainder of 2017, as well as for 2018. The healthcare sector is expected to see 3.5 percent growth in 2018. While some slowdown in the commercial sector was anticipated for 2017 and 2018, it was expected to be offset by acceleration in the institutional sector. However, year-to-date growth in spending for institutional buildings is at 3 percent, well below expectations when the year began. "Despite billings at archi- tecture fi rms performing quite well this year, the larger construc- tion industry is facing a range of issues," said AIA Chief Economist Kermit Baker, Ph.D., Hon. AIA. "The somewhat weaker outlook is driven by several factors, some dealing with the broader U.S. economy, some dealing with general construc- tion industry fundamentals and some dealing with weakness in specifi c construction sectors." Ellen Taylor (Center for Health Design) discussed new physical environment requirements for telemedicine ser- vices and Bryan Langlands (NBBJ) introduced two new tables intended to help designers determine where an exam/treatment, procedure, operating or imaging room is required. In addition, Langlands, along with David Vincent (HKS) and Christine Carr, M.D., professor of emer- gency medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina, presented a new concept that did not make it into the 2018 edition: low- acuity patient pods in the emergency department. Use of these innovative design elements is intended to help emergency departments better manage "vertical" patients, those whose treatment doesn't require a 120-square-foot treatment room.
