Construction of the tower, which will be named in honor of former longtime Methodist CEO Gary Shorb, is offi cially half- way complete. Work is slated for completion in the spring of 2019. The Integrated Project Delivery team includes Turner Construction Company, Self+Tucker Architects, archimania, HKS, Inc. and Allen & Hoshall. The new patient tower is part of the hospital's campus expansion project, which also includes a 700-space parking plaza that was recently com- pleted. The tower will allow for the consolida- tion of the hospital's transplant services into a two-fl oor inpatient/outpatient comprehensive transplant institute. It will also connect the oncol- ogy and outpatient care to create a new cancer center. The eight-story tower is being constructed on top of the existing emergency department. Replacement Facility Expands Healthcare Services to Rural North Dakota The new Sakakawea Medical Center integrates both a critical access hospital and a community health center into a primary care medical neighborhood for the residents of Mercer, Oliver and Dunn counties in Hazen, North Dakota. The Neenan Company served as the Design-Build partner for the proj- ect, with the new 55,300-square-foot facility replacing the previous medical center built in 1969. The facility features updated diagnostic technology and expansions to the clinic, emergency room and surgical area, while also supporting enhanced community outreach programs. The hospital features a Lean, patient- centric design that provides easy acces- sibility and navigation for comprehensive patient care. The new clinic delivers a centralized clinical care team space for timely, responsive, collaborative pa- tient care by and between physicians, providers, nurses and technicians. The new facility implements modern design techniques aimed at improving patient satisfaction and outcomes, while reduc- ing nursing standby costs from staffi ng individually separated departments. PATIENT-CENTRIC DESIGN Construction Reaches Halfway Mark for $275M Methodist Hospital Halifax Crossing Hospital to Expand Freestanding ED Halifax Health, Adams, Robins & Morton, HKS Architects and guests joined together to break ground on the Halifax Crossing Hospi- tal located in Deltona, Florida. The new 196,000-square-foot addition will expand the freestanding emergency department. The hospital will include 96 patient beds, as well as a surgery center, operating suites and a comprehensive imaging center with MRI, CT, X-ray, mammogram and ultrasound. The hospital's design will refl ect a Lean approach to provide improved operational effi ciencies. The expansion and renovation project is scheduled to be completed in December 2019.
