These services are conveniently located on the second fl oor. Small seating areas outside physical therapy allow family members to relax while waiting. Hope has a new address… it's not just a building; it's what's inside the new Community Cancer Center North that makes it unique. Community Health Network challenged CallisonRTKL to create a state-of-the-art facility that meets the growing demand for cancer care in Central Indiana. The new cancer center sought to be a fl exible, easily navigable facility that provides convenient access to exceptional healthcare services and a con- nection to the surrounding community. Selecting the right site became the fi rst challenge. Visibility, convenient access and the ability to connect to the existing hospital were key in selecting the site's location. This location allowed the new cancer center to more than triple the size of the existing facility. With input from patients, physicians and staff , the design of the 104,000-square-foot, $60-million, three-story cancer center, which opened last year, features elements that create a home-like atmosphere and a warm and contemporary design that provides patients with new hope. Meeting fl exibility needs The biggest challenge was integrating fl exibility into a program where each space has a very specifi c function and dedicated staff , and is not typically de- signed to be adaptable.
