The delivery of care and the health system's culture also support the brand model, which has signifi cant implications for staff and potential recruits. These dynamic forces reshap- ing healthcare are pushing providers to rethink real estate investment and, specifi cally, their interior experiences for patients and staff . Recognizing the experi- ences these spaces create can serve as key diff erentiators moving forward. Experiential design emerges as strategy Healthcare institutions have long un- derstood the need to design for comfort, accessibility, quality and more, but now they're turning their attention to spe- cifi cally designing for better user experi- ences. The patient experience is top of mind with all health systems — both from a competition and quality of care perspec- tive. A patient's experience with a health- care institution has a signifi cant impact on patient satisfaction scores — which in turn are directly tied to reimbursements. Health systems are also recognizing the importance of staff experiences as they grapple with workforce shortages and a highly competitive talent recruit- ment climate. For clinicians and staff who spend countless hours working in these institutions — typically under stressful conditions — a supportive environment tuned to their needs can have a signifi cant 1.
