ARCHITECTURAL GLASS Etched Glass Inspired by Micro- Bone Structures, Biomorphic Forms Bendheim has launched its Etched Elements Col- lection with the introduction of Oberon architectural etched glass. Featuring ½-inch thickness, Oberon's dual-sided, fi ne-etched surfaces echo and enhance each other. The multifaceted design adds a sense of body and depth to interior partitions and build- . Oberon's acid-etched pattern is inspired by micro-bone structures and natural biomorphic forms and is the result of collaboration with an emerging graphic artist. The design offers a degree of privacy, while maintaining a sense of openness and allowing for daylighting. The pattern's dimensionality and depth is magnifi ed in edge-lighting applications. ID#111 Products FABRICS AND TEXTILES Shade Fabric Helps Enhance Solar Performance of Windows To meet the performance and mate- rial content requirements of today's health and sustainable building initia- tives, Mermet USA has introduced GreenScreen Refl ect. One hundred percent PVC-free and made from natu- rally abundant resources such as glass and aluminum, the shade fabric refl ects up to 72 percent of solar radiation for heat control. The fi berglass yarn in GreenScreen Refl ect provides mechanical resistance and dimen- sional stability, while its aluminum backing offers enhanced solar protection for heat man- agement. The fabric helps control light and conserves energy, contributing to optimized indoor environmental quality for comfort, health, productivity and sustainability. ID#110 DriSteem Corporation recently launched water treatment systems, expanding its product line, as well as offering an all- in-one solution that integrates with DriSteem's humidifi cation and evaporative cooling systems. The reverse-osmosis and water pre-treatment systems are designed to deliver high- purity water for a wide variety of applications and processes, and provide easy-access and low-maintenance components. A range of options are available, including various capacities and sizes to accommodate smaller and larger capacities, skid mounting, UV treatment, dechlo- rination and single or duplex softeners. The system in- tegrates with building automation systems. ID#112 SOFTWARE Cloud-Based Software Gives 'Insight' Into HVAC, Lighting Systems Schneider Electric's Building Insights is a cloud-based solution that provides real-time visibility and control of all HVAC, light- ing and metering devices from anywhere at any time. Enterprises with multi-site portfolios will be able to effi ciently man- age thousands of sites simultaneously via a computer, tablet or smartphone. Armed with actionable information, building owners and managers can make smarter energy-management decisions to achieve up to a 30 percent reduction in energy costs, while optimizing operations, increas- ing energy effi ciency, reducing risks and improving occupant comfort. ID#113 Technology Ushers in New Era of HVAC Capabilities Daikin Applied's Intelligent Equipment technology platform harnesses the Internet of Things for the fi rst time in commercial HVAC equipment, making it possible for HVAC systems to talk to operators and proactively take action, in order to improve effi ciencies and exponentially increase cost savings. With the technology, HVAC systems can be monitored and controlled remotely using any mobile device. The platform allows us- ers to view fi nancial summaries of energy savings and equipment payback and sync with weather forecasts to adjust for chang- ing climates before it happens. It also gives users direct access to power usage levels, as well as its CO2 use, providing a more accurate view of a carbon footprint.
